the successful chance of pick pocketing needs to be increased.. In RSC pick pocketing was one of the most lucrative things you can do, now its a huge pain in the ass with constant failures and requires far more work than any other skill to get gp returns.
I heard someone say that they nerfed thief skill due to botters... IDK if this is true but if it is, take another moment to think about this.. That makes no since. Thief skill in order to make money off of it requires you to be at youre keyboard you CAN NOT make money pick pocketing while afk training like other skills. So you make it harder for bots on one skill, all they have to do is make new toons and start botting a different skill that was easier to do in the first place.
In its current state pick pocketing as a means to make gold is useless and I would really appreciate it if some balance was implemented. Nerfing a skill wasn't the solution being more proactive and looking for botters in a professional manner is.
okay so from my understanding the drop rate for pick pocketing is supposed to be equal to RSC.. Paladins are droping around 10 gp, gnomes I think is 30 gp... Drop rates are just totally broken. Lots of wasted time grinding thief skill.. Lets put this in prospective.. Guards are dropping more than end game pick pocketing..
Thieving has some obvious issues and has had since early days. It needs work, firat of all, theiving is MUCH too easy for such a high pay-off. The basics of the skill are forgotten. Thieving allows a meger means of revenue (realistically) it should not be able to compete with smithing.
Get a REAL job! Haha also, theiving has OTHER benefits, certain buildings and shortcuts can be only accessed with certain levels.
Thorn I disagree I feel like pick pocketing is far more difficult than most other trade skills. It's one of the few trade skills that you cannot afk at all, in order to get a decent gp return you constantly have to be clicking and rotating between toons. Now I'm not saying that the pick pocket drop rate at 10x was a good idea. What I am saying is that at the VERY LEAST it needs to be the same as the original runescape drop rate.
Thieving in its current state is not capable of making more than 50 k an hour and thats while playing 4 toons at one time.
Okay.. So lets think about this for a moment.. Nerf a skill because someone was botting doing said skill. The skill in question is one of the hardest skills to run multipul toons maximizing gp production.. I don't really know but I personally think that Thieving is probably one of the harder skills to bot due to the fact that the npcs attack you and are constantly moving.. I've leveled 4 toons to 75 thieving by hand at the same time. I've also leveled 4 toons to 80 + wc and fletch at the same time, and am currently leveling four toons for rune crafting. From my prospective thieving is soooooo much harder.
I understand that the dynamics of scripting are such that it doesn't matter how hard it is for a human it could possibly be significantly easier for a bot/script.
My argument really is if this is how we deal with botters on something as difficult as thieving.. What skills will be nerfed next?
From what I have heard there are now bots cutting magic trees, and fishing. So what now? Nerf fishing and WC'ing?? Just doesn't seem like the logical solution. I believe having better formally trained mods is the answer. The people that police are server need to be smart, respectful, kind, patient, and have a clear cut policy on how to identify and deal with a botter. Not only that but maybe even working in a field training program where the prospective mod is in training and has to work along side another vetted mod while he is learning the ropes and to even see if they have what it takes to be a mod.
These are all things that law enforcement in the real world do. I don't think it would be a bad practice here.
