decided to download client onto my laptop to play, but even using correct java, everything being right. I still cant figure out why it opens a black terminal for a second and closes after clicking RSCE_Launcher.jar. any suggestions or help? Ive scanned all of forums and tried everything everybody has been posting for this problem, but I still cant resolve it!
Can you confirm which version of java you are using? You can do so by opening up a command prompt and typing "java -version". I am willing to bet (despite what you've claimed), that you aren't using the correct version of java.
I would uninstall *ALL* versions of java you have installed, via the control panel, then download, and install java 1.8 (java 8). Once that step is complete, please also do a Google search for "jarfix", and then run that.
java version 1.8.0_161 i have uninstalled and re installed multiple times. different versions and 1.8 version.
Can you open a command prompt and type "java -jar /path/to/RSCE_Launcher.jar" (of course replace /path/to/ with the actual path the jar is) - Then please try to take note of the output.
Unrecognized option: -jar/path/to/rsce_launcher.jar Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine. Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

Where /path/to/ you need to supply the actual path you have the launcher downloaded to. Please also ensure you have "java -jar"
As you see, I have my "RSCE_Launcher.jar" in my downloads folder, and that's the directory I'm in.
Please also ensure you have uninstalled *ALL* version of java you may have installed. Did you download your current version of Java from the following website:

Sure. I'm online, so just PM me your Teamviewer details, and I'll do my best to assist you.
This issue was resolved over Teamviewer. For reference, if anyone else experiences similar issues, please ensure you have java 8 installed. Please download from the oracle website.
